Dumb Martian - www.facebook.com/dumbmartian
Album release party for ‘Eleven hours’ by Dumb Martian, out April 28th via Tremolator Records.
Dumb Martian was formed by David Leverno & Matt Berry in 2016 as a studio project in North London. The plan was to plug in, press record and play. The only agenda was that nothing at all was pre written. Once a ‘jam’ was recorded, it was listened back to edited into a track and lyrics written. The result of their labours is Dumb Martian’s debut album ‘Eleven Hours’ out on April 28th on Tremolator Records (available on cd and online). The album shows their shared love of psychedelic rock and post rock.
Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles - www.facebook.com/billybibs20
Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles are a four-piece band from North Wales/North West UK comprised of Billy Bibby/lead vocals, guitar; Thomas Hill, lead guitar; Matt Thomas/bass, vocals; and Ailis Mackay/drums. Since playing their first full band gig in November of 2015, it’s been non-stop with over 100 gigs and festivals in 50+ UK cities, combined with the release of a début EP and four follow-up singles including the most recent ‘Hamburg’.
Lucille - www.facebook.com/thebandlucille
Formed in early 2017, LUCILLE is a London-based outfit that offers pop noir. Combining elements of rock and roll, pop and ’70s soul, pop noir strives to establish a narrative on 21st Century popular culture that is both critical of and complicit in its dark side.
LUCILLE’s music has been described by IndiePulseMusic as full of “energy and tenacity.” Since releasing début single Caravaggio, look for Lucille in select venues across London and Brighton.
L Sicario - www.facebook.com/Lsicariolondon
London-based L Sicario have honed a deliciously cool brand of desert rock, which just oozes funkiness. All of the group are capable vocalists, sharing out lead vox duties between songs & this may well give them substantially more scope than your average four-piece seem to have these days. It will be interesting to see just how they exploit that potential. The band’s debut single Interstellar epitomises that funky sound. It opens with a dirty little guitar riff that continues through an edgy, almost crooning opening verse that gradually builds up to a few repeats of “Insterstellar.” A winding guitar riff follows, then drops into a cool second verse with more prominent guitars and backing vocals then flows into a really cool repeating riff that continues under more repeats of “Interstellar” as the track builds towards an ending. L Sicario have been playing in & around the Camden circuit for a little while now and they’ve been packing venues like O2 Academy Islington, Fiddler’s Elbow, Nambucca & Onethousandone.
